San Francisco Center for the Book Presents: Roadworks 2012

Let me begin by saying that I don't know a single soul (printer or not) who wouldn't get tickled pink watching a steamroller run over some linoleum blocks laid down on a public street used as a press bed! And that's the plan for Roadworks 2012, a street festival to be held this September 22nd on Rhode Island Street in San Francisco from 12pm - 5pm. 5 artists and their assistants will publicly produce a series of 3' square prints for this ninth edition of the festival! The event is free to all who wish to attend and will feature vendors from a variety of presses in the area (including my press the L.H.O.O.Q. Press), letterpress demos, music, food, and of course lots of geeking out about print. On an adjacent street, you'll find a retrospective of talented graphic artist Rik Olsen accompanied by the works of Anna Branning and Favianna Rodriguez (two fellow Roadworks alums) and two new artists Caitlin Mattisson and Mike Kimball
